Summer Sizzlers
About
The Summer Sizzler Weekly Race Series has been held each Wednesday from Mid-April through August since 1980. Organized by the
Greater Springfield Harriers running club, the series alternates between
5 kilometer XC and 8 kilometer road courses.
The series kicks-off each year on the 19th of April, Everett Barney Day, in reconigtion and thanks for his 178-acre land donation made back in 1890
to what became Forest Park.

Courses
| 5K XC | 8K ROAD |
| Note: This is true cross country course. It is both challenging and a bit tricky to navigate. It goes thru wooded trails with short steep hills, tree roots, mud and streams. There are some rather muddy and wet areas when you take a right at the bottom of the first hill. Hovever a majority of the course is much improved now that the Park construction is completed. The start will be marked and is on the side of Walker Grand Stand across from the basketball courts and not where the 8K starts. The finish is at the top of the first hill you go down and will also be marked. | Google Map |
