There are folks who live in Franklin Co. and points NW of Springfield who used to drive to the Harriers 4th of July race as it was the only such holiday race in the Valley. Now with the N'Hamp race they have an option of maybe not running as far. Additionally I have personally talked to people who have no desire to drive into Springfield at any time of day being as how it is not your safest American city. I just thought I'd throw out the original post about the race to try and promote running in the Valley as well as help out a new running store. Isn't that what we runners are supposed to do?
