yeah, i would say that the i.t. band is the real problem. you might find that riding the bike will strengthen your quads while still maintaining yur aerobic conditioning. it may even improve your leg-speed, which never hurts you. it will not pound on the area the way running will. oh yeah, and don't go anywhere near the track. running in circles makes connective tissues scream profanity. also, you might be out of allignment. last time i had an i.t band issue, it was related to the fact that my hips were rotated in opposite dircetions. very painful to adjust, but well worth it. one more idea, make sure your shoes are good. sometimes new shoes or wornout shoes can exxacerbate the situation. don't know about the spelling on that one. good luck good luck
