If it is truely runner's knee, then weak quad muscles are usually the reason. I usually sit on my washing machine with my shoes on and do straight leg extensions with a can of paint hanging off of my foot. Any other similar exercise will usually get those quads back to where they should be. If you do it every day, several times a day, the symptoms should back off within a few days or weeks. If they don't, seek the aid of your physician. Overall, if you treat it early, it will not effect your current training too much. Good Luck!
