C'mon...Rap's cool. You sound like my parents talking about Rock 'N Roll, Elvis, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, et al. I liken Rap, AKA Hip-Hop, to that sweet sound of Motown when I was a kid (I'm 51 now), hearing it coming loudly from some chrome-dashboard, top-down, Red sports car with older teenagers than myself groovin' on something that was street-born, the heart of youth beating along to a strong, crazy rythmn. We as runners understand the physical heart and, to a large degree, we also understand the spiritual heart better than most folks. I will never knock Bruce (saw him live back in the day after "Born to Run" was released), Bob Seger, Led Zeppelin, or any other classics. I just still feel excitement at new music, especially when I recognize influences from that of my era. Whatever it takes to get us through the miles is cool...or sweet...or ill...whatever.
