Competing against the very best runners in the USA Mike Brouillette place 54th in 12:44 at the USA Cross Country Championships in New York City on Saturday. Check out complete results at www.usatf.org where you'll also find Sandu Rebenciuc in the same 4K race to choose the US team for the world championships. Note how competitive the race was, ie. not much time difference among the runners! Only other local runner from my quick perusal of the results was Zach Hines of South Hadley (now at Cornell)placing 14th in the junior men's 8K in an exceptional 24:42. Lots of California and Colorado runners in the races, very few New Enlanders or New Yorkers (except in the masters races) ventured to the Big Apple for the Championships. Also virtually no teams (again except in the masters races). Maybe we should have rescheduled our Annual Banquet??? Next time! We'll make up for it in San Francisco!!
