TWO MORE
RECORDS FALL
It was a nice evening with temperatures in the
mid 70’s. We are in the cooler evening weather pattern so far this
summer. The 39 race participants lined up for the 6:33 race start. A
few new faces and some familiar faces were in the crowd tonight. It
was the women who would break and set age records this evening and
the younger men would take the first two spots with a male senior
coming in third.
Overall first place finisher was seventeen
year old Matt Hegarty with a fast 5:42 per mile pace
finishing with a time of 28:20. Finishing second was another junior
seventeen year old Kevin Clark with a time of 31:10 and
senior harrier Mike Kelleher came in third with a fantastic
time of 31:32. First female was harrier Kelly Joyce with a
time of 33:46 followed by first female master harrier Barbara
Bosworth (38:24) and third female was the first age record
breaker for the evening CMS’er Mary Ryczek with a time of
39:05. Mary broke the 61 year young age record by over 4 minutes
previously held by Sue Grant. Mary’s time even beat her 60 year old
age record set last July (40:45). You are not getting older Mary you
are getting better!
First male master was Mark Nadolny with
a time of 35:20 and first male veteran was Don Miller with a
time of 37:15.
The next age record to be set was by 62 year
young New York flyer Marjorie Kos. Marjorie finished with a
time of 42:07 setting a record for 62 year young females. Great job
Marjorie! Both Mary and Marjorie walked away with $10.00 Gift
certificates to fast feet.
Tonight’s predicted time winner was Mary
Ryczek who was only 5 seconds off her prediction. Mary cleaned
up tonight with a car wash to go with her gift certificate.
A special thank you to Brian Goddu, Ed,
Julie & Bill Carroll, Pete Stasz and Bruce Kurtz for
helping out with so many of this evening’s tasks.
