Records Fall as Bilodeau and L'Esperance Take Final 8K Event. Dark and rainy, although warm, weather didn't deter the
Sizzler faithful from their appointed run. In fact on this dreary night the event was
graced by Lennart Tenland, a Swedish runner. He now holds the record for the longest
distance traveled by a competitor to a Sizzler race. Lenart, in June, ran the Broloppet Half-Marathon (1:45:38) in
Sweden. He was just one of 92,277 competitors to compete in this event.
Len Bilodeau took off his race director's cap and put on his running shoes to capture the
last 8K race of the season with a PR 29:45. Michael Lee grabbed second in 30:52 followed
by Billy Rowe 31:47
Carol L'Esperance won all the women's divisions with an impressive 33:59, setting a new
record for 50 year olds in the process, erasing fellow Harrier Doris Aronson's long
standing 35:47 clocking. Christina Kane had a successful debut as a Harrier with a
solid 34:50 for second with Samantha Noonan third in 41:12.
Doug Blanchard added to his record collection with a 38:57, the 74 year old Champ's 8th
record on the 8K course.
